The European Commission held a high-level conference in Brussels following the completion of the evaluation of Regulation (EU) 2016/429 on transmissible animal diseases (the Animal Health Law). The event brought together representatives from the European institutions, Member States, veterinary organizations and industry to review the achievements of the legislation and discuss future priorities for animal health in Europe.
Jean-Luc Troch, Honorary President of D4A, represented our federation at this event on 8 July 2026.
For Diagnostics for Animals, the conference reaffirmed that veterinary diagnostics are a fundamental pillar of the Animal Health Law. Diagnostic manufacturers provide innovative tools that enable early detection, surveillance and control of animal diseases, supporting veterinarians and competent authorities in implementing the Regulation.
Continued collaboration between policy makers, veterinary services and the diagnostic industry will be essential to strengthen Europe’s preparedness against endemic and emerging animal diseases.
