For detection of IgG antibodies to Babesia canis (Babesiosis) in serum and plasma samples from dogs (Availability/distribution: Outside the U.S. and Canada)
The BABESIA-ELISA DOG is an enzyme immunoassay for detecting IgG antibodies to Babesia canis in serum and plasma samples from dogs.
Babesia canis is the causative agent of dog babesiosis. Babesiosis is considered a serious threat, especially to racing greyhounds and pit bull terriers. Severe forms of the disease can lead to the dogs’ death, depending on the virulence of the pathogen as well as on the host’s immune status.
The BABESIA-ELISA DOG enables detection of IgG antibodies to Babesia canis 7 to 8 days after infection and 3 days after the first clinical symptoms. The assay is especially suited for use after the inhabitation of a dog in an endemic area and for the detection of a subclinical-chronic babesiosis.
