VetMAX™ MastiType Multi Kit
Real-Time PCR
Mastitis pathogen
Product reference : A39227
The VetMAX MastiType Multi Kit enables rapid, accurate detection of 15 mastitis-causing pathogens and one penicillin-resistance gene in bovine milk. These 16 markers are detected using real-time PCR amplification of DNA unique to each pathogen in four separate reactions.
The advanced technology of the VetMAX MastiType real-time PCR assays offers these advantages:
• Designed for laboratories requiring high-throughput processing methods
• Faster results—typical time from sample to result is 2.5–3 hours, compared to up to 10 days for a culture
• High accuracy—high sensitivity and specificity for all individual pathogens
• Identifies and quantifies DNA, allowing detection of viable, dead, and growth-inhibited pathogens
• Allows use of preserved milk samples, eliminating the need for cooling during sample transportation
• Can be integrated into milk recording programs using preserved milk
• Validated with convenient MagMAX CORE nucleic acid purification method that does not require aspiration and centrifugation
The VetMAX MastiType Multi assay detects these 15 pathogens and one resistance gene in four separate PCR reactions:
• Staphylococcus aureus
• Staphylococcus spp. (including all major coagulase-negative staphylococci)
• Streptococcus agalactiae
• Streptococcus dysgalactiae
• Streptococcus uberis
• Escherichia coli
• Enterococcus spp. (including E. faecalis and E. faecium)
• Klebsiella oxytoca (and/or K. pneumoniae)
• Serratia marcescens
• Corynebacterium bovis
• Trueperella pyogenes and/or Peptoniphilus indolicus
• Staphylococcal β-lactamase gene (penicillin-resistance gene)
• Mycoplasma bovis
• Mycoplasma spp.
• Yeast
• Prototheca spp.
